Note that this book is highly technical and requires a good understanding of mathematics and engineering concepts. Also note that this book is a translation from its original Italian, and so language difficulties will occasionally exist.
From the Author’s Introduction: This book starts from the drafting phase, through the glider aerodynamics and stability, bringing the reader in contact with the design rules. The calculation method of the air loads lead to the structural and weight check, and the proposed method to find out the sailplane weight is just a suggestion. Flutter problems have been considered but the designer, in my opinion, should ask for the help of a specialist to accomplish this task. The last part of the book deals with static and flight testing of the glider but also a chapter dedicated to the industrialization of the project is useful to see in perspective the whole circle of operations to be done for this type of activity. The calculations examples help to go through the mathematics but I avoided, as much as possible, not an abuse of them.
