This course serves as initial and refresher training on analog aircraft instruments. Beginning with the basic design, it’s components and possible errors of a pitot static systems, followed by the main barometric instruments: altimeter, vertical speed indicator and airspeed indicator. The next chapter addresses magnetism, from the earth’s magnetic field to adjustment and compensation of direct reading compasses. Under gyroscopic instruments we cover the basic gyro principles and their application to indicate attitude, turns and direction. The last chapter of this course explains engine indication in general applicable for jet and turboprop and also for piston engines. The course concludes with a comprehensive multiple- choice questionnaire allowing the participant to test his acquired knowledge.
The course is built into short 1-2 minute segments including animations, video and complete narration. Stage exams provide a refresher and confirmation of the key points. A menu bar provides easy navigation between topics. The average time spent to complete this course is 4 hours. However this may vary depending your experience and study habits. The course ends with a final exam which when passed, provides a printable certificate of completion in your name. Once you begin, you will have 1 year to complete and review the course.
